For Ruby Range Adventures
A few years ago, a good friend of mine spent a summer guiding canoe trips in the Yukon and he'd send me weekly updates with amazing photos from his various adventures. Since then, a Yukon paddling trip has been on my bucketlist. When Whitehorse-based Ruby Range Adventures invited me to tag along with them on a 450km paddle down the Yukon River from Carmacks to Dawson City, I naturally agreed to hop on.
We got rained on heavily and then roasted by the sun, watched a Grizzly chase a Moose (and miss her by a hair), saw a lone grey wolf howling on a hilltop, slept beneath midnight rainbows, gorged ourselves on well-earned and very delicious food, caught fish on flies and paddled our butts off. It was truly a once-in-lifetime experience.
